The Legend François Luambo Luanzo Makiadi (6 July 1938 – 12 October 1989) was the leader of the group as TPOK Jazz (short for Tout Puissant Orchestre Kinois de Jazz). This group was formed in 1956 with more than 30 members, together they made African Rumba rhythm (Congolese Rumba) very popular till date. He is referred to as Franco Luambo or simply Franco. Later the celebrated guitarist Franco Luambo was nicknamed by fans and critics "Sorcerer of the Guitar" and the "Grand Maître of Zairean Music", as well as Franco de Mi Amor by female fans. Between 1970s and early 1980s the band grew to more than fifty members. During that period, Luambo split the group into two groups; one group stayed in Kinshasa, playing in nightclubs there, while the other group toured in Africa, Europe and North America. Following Luambo’s death off-shoots of the legendary T. P. OK Jazz band include: Bana Ok, Mandilu System, Somo Somo, OK International to mention a few. Soundlabusa is proud to present the live performance of The Legend François Luambo Luanzo Makiadi Rumba Music part 1.
